Hey guys,

Had some nostalgia when I was an avid ToP player back in like 2007. I was never that technically gifted on the server-side management, but always dreamt of spinning up my own private server to play with a core group of mates (10 of us).

I've given this a whirl yesterday and went down the Claude Code rabbithole for a few hours - so far, so good. Just hitting really weird errors and inconsistencies in the game and wondering if anyone else has 'vibe coded' their way through a private sever?
  1. Hit animation isn't appearing when attacking enemy spawn
  2. At first the camera coordinates wouldn't follow my character - now fixed
  3. I've tried loading in some welcome scripts and custom NPC to give my friends a starting point prior to engaging in the beginner quests, it seems to have loaded but isn't pushing into the game.
Long story short - am I going to be chasing my tail for days getting this somewhat functional? Or give up while I'm ahead and get them to join someone's private sever?

If anything, I'm learning a lot and has been a fun trip down memory lane.

The client is very "fragile", you need to change the basic logic very carefully.
First, ask Claude Code to log the problematic areas, and then give him this log to read. He should be able to handle it.
At least Claude Opus 4.7 edits the code correctly in xhigh mode.
